Since we don’t yet have any posts under the “promotion” category, here’s the first!

I consider marketing to be the final (and ongoing) process of launching a book or creative work.

In most cases you need the book to be available before you can promote it (hence marketing often follows publishing and distribution of a work), but note that a key chunk of marketing takes place before publication. Teasers, advance review copies, generating buzz, letting fans know what’s coming and so on.
